Las Vegas Aces sweep Phoenix Mercury to claim 2025 WNBA title, cement dynasty status
That’s a wrap on the 2025 WNBA Finals, as the No. 2 Las Vegas Aces completed a four-game sweep of the No. 4 Phoenix Mercury in the league’s first-ever best-of-seven Finals series.
With the victory, Las Vegas has firmly cemented its dynasty. The Aces now hold three championships in four seasons — adding 2025 to their back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023. Their only miss came last year, when they fell in the semifinals. Phoenix, meanwhile, made its first Finals appearance since 2021, when the Mercury lost to the Chicago Sky.
A tough road to the Finals
Neither team had an easy path. Both were pushed to decisive Game 3s in the opening round. Phoenix stunned the defending champion New York Liberty, while Las Vegas survived a gritty battle with the Seattle Storm.
In the semifinals, the Mercury eliminated the No. 1 seed Minnesota Lynx in four games, while the Aces barely escaped the No. 6 Indiana Fever in a dramatic Game 5 overtime thriller.
